Class of 2015

2015 is just around the corner.  Again, most of us have this itch of creating new resolutions while others are probably well tucked in their comfort zones. If we aspire for some form of transformation in our lives then a change in 2015 is a must. And this definitely calls for some drafting of the New Year resolutions.

For the graduating class of 2015, you are about to embark on life at the next level. This is an opportunity for you to put into practice what you have picked-up while being an MSUrian. No one can predict with certainty on what’s going to happen after graduation. I can relate to the apprehensions, the uncertainties, the ‘what ifs?‘ and all the  emotions that you are experiencing because I was once there. Don’t worry ‘things will fall into place’ – I know this sound like a cliché advice to you. For things to fall into place it would require some form of planning to say the least. And so it goes, that planning is a must because if you don’t, you are most likely planning to fail!

I am looking forward to seeing you (graduating Class 2015) on January 23rd during your rehearsal.  I have enjoyed doing the convocation briefing and I feel honored doing so over the past 15 graduation ceremonies.  Like your parents, I am happy and contented to see you take that important step into your career.  Nonetheless, there is an emptiness to see you leaving. I feel concern like a parent letting go of his child, wondering the magnitude of the challenges that the child has to overcome. But I’m pacified because I know you are ready.

I hope that the time spent at MSU has enriched your perception. I hope that you have acquired some good values and I hope that you keep the MSU flag flying with pride as you deal with the challenges in your professional lives. Go out there and give your best. Show the world that you care and that you are different.  Should you be asked of your alma mater, say it with pride that it is MSU.

My best wishes to the Class of 2015.
