Manage Your Time

Hello everyone!

With so much going on in the MSU campus such as mid semester examinations and the upcoming MSU Homecoming Fiesta, it’s no surprise that you will have a tough time keeping track with lectures, studying, assignments, projects, working and so on for the following weeks. How can you balance your time when there never seems to be enough of it? Having been through this, I’ll recommend some time management tips that I think every MSU students should know and consider.

Set your priorities straight. Your academic status should always be on the top of your to-complete list. There’s a reason why you have entered MSU in the first place i.e. to gain a diploma or degree of course. University life can be a handful but don’t forget to schedule time to have fun and relax. Make time for yourself, hang out or join your favourite club. While it can take some time to balance between your academic and personal time, learning how to set your priorities straight can be your best asset in college when it comes to managing your time well.

Almost all of us walk around with a smart phone today, but do we actually utilize them to the fullest? With a built-in calendar and many applications that cater the needs of today’s students; it’s a head scratcher thinking why students don’t use these helpful items. By having a calendar or planner in the palm of your hand, it is easier to plan your weekly task and not missing a beat. One instant notification or reminder on your phone will definitely get your attention. Whichever way you choose to plan yourself, it’s important to keep track of things to be done.

The most important thing is to understand that time management is some sort of system. There is never just one and only method to manage yourself. It is okay to try any system that suits you and don’t give up. Never overlook that we also provide help with time management with our mentor-mentee program and our very own campus counselors. Hopefully, these suggestions of mine can improve your way of managing time to avoid burnout and fatigue.
